The Implementation of the Jigsaw Technique to Increase Students’ Listening Achievement and Motivation Aspects

Teaching listening needs improvement because many students get low scores on the test. This condition should be improved by providing a new teaching technique. Students in Mutiara Senior High School have problems mastering skill. They are difficult to catch meaning while test is given. The purposes of this study find out whether there significant increase after being taught jigsaw technique and which motivation aspects (effort, goal, persistence, frequency) most influence students’ achievement learning English. experimental was measured pretest posttest designs. research subject class XI science even semester South Lampung. instrument measure comprehension consisted 30 multiple choices. Another close-ended questionnaire with 20 questions know aspect had English achievements. data were analyzed using t-test formula. computation result showed that t-ratio from (49.13) (71.45) value two-tailed significance 0.000. Since sign α (0.000 0.05), indicated numbers represented significance. It means treatment given better effect ability. In addition, it revealed influential an effort. Therefore, personal or group tasks supported giving rewards punishment improve efforts learning.
